Twice the boilers, twice the maintenance. Plus this would be a lot heavier for a given power than a single large boiler.

Its an interesting design regardless, but I'm fairly sure such a thing was never tried in actual locomotive service.

Regardless, an 0-8-0+0-6-0 would be interesting to see. It would be prone to derailments when operated at speed due to the lack of leading and trailing trucks, but since all of the weight would contribute to adhesion it should do well with heavy trains at low speeds.
