Description
With the resounding success of the Transport Variant, the chassis of the Medium Steam Quad-Walker was put to use as a replacement for the long-outdated Steam Mortar Tank Mk. XVIII. It mounted the same gun as the Mark XVIII, but unlike the tank, the walking mortar variant has a high ground clearance and far better cross-country mobility. In fact, with the exception of the tall profile, the Mark LV is superior to the Mark XVIII in every way.
A two-person loading team (including the driver and auto-rifle gunner) under the canvas first loads the shell into the mortar's breech from the ammunition racks. Second, the turret is then spun 180 degrees so that the two gunners can adjust the gun to the proper elevation, having already sighted the target and calculated the trajectory. The gun is the fired and spun around so that the process can begin again. In addition to folding recoil spades on the vehicle's undercarriage, the legs incorporate massive shock absorbers to lessen any stress that could potential cause damage. Armed with one 500mm mortar and an automatic rifle. Four crewmen.
(the boiler piece may be replaced with a small PF motor to allow the walker to move on its own)
